Questions for the Plastic Surgeon…..
You’ve done the research. You know what school she went to. You know that
she is board certified.
You know that she is a member of the
national society of plastic surgeons.
You know that she is able to perform
surgery at her local hospital.
But…….what to ask at the first consultation?
The consultation is your chance to meet the surgeon and ask them as many questions as possible. If possible, take a second person with you so that they can take notes while you concentrate on talking with the surgeon.
You should consider asking the following questions: 1. Can you tell me about your qualifications? 2. Are all your qualifications active and up to date? 3. How many years experience have you had in performing breast reductions and breast lifts? 4. How many of breast reductions and breast lifts have you performed in that amount of years? 5. Do you have customer testimonials? 6. Where will the surgery be conducted? 7. What post-operative care do you offer? 8. Can I look at photos of past patients?
This last question is particularly important. You need to be able to look at photos so that you can point out the ‘look’ that appeals to you. You also want to be able to see the work that the surgeon has done! When you are asking these questions you need to take notice of: - How clear and confident is the surgeon? - Does she understand what you want to achieve? - Is she able to recommend a course of action that will help you achieve your surgery goals? - Does she answer your questions in plain English and make sure that you understand everything? - Does she talk about costs?
If the answer to these questions is positive then you will be able to build a good relationship with the surgeon and this is important for
you to feel comfortable with her.
